Giving Tuesday 2020: UNITED WAY INVITES ALL NOT FOR PROFITS TO PARTNER IN GIVING TUESDAY

Not for Profits in all sectors are experiencing increased challenges in fundraising to sustain their programs and operations over the last several months.   Many organizations have had to cancel scheduled fundraisers, and typical fundraising methods are not as effective as in the past. With an eye on the entire not-for-profit sector, the United Way of the Ohio Valley is inviting any not-for-profit 501 c (3) to participate in a community on-line fundraiser to raise dollars for their organization and mission.

Giving Tuesday is a national day of generosity that will take place on December 1, 2020.  At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe. Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on. Giving Tuesday emphasizes opportunities to give back to communities and causes in safe ways that allow for social connection and kindness even while practicing physical distancing.  We all have gifts to give, and with social media, online giving, delivery, mail, and phones, there are limitless ways to use your generosity to support others.

“We hope to partner with any and all not-for-profits including health and human services, arts, animal, environmental and others”.  It is the intention of the United Way to assist our regional not-for-profits in generating more revenue for their missions” says, Jo Shake, Board Chair for the United Way of the Ohio Valley.

Not-for-profit, 501 c (3) organizations that are located in the following counties can participate:  Daviess, Hancock, Mclean, Ohio, Union and Webster.  Additionally, the United Way of Henderson County and the United Way of the Coalfield (Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties) are joining as well. The United Way of the Ohio Valley will not be charging an administration fee to organizations that choose to participate in Giving Tuesday.
