DAVIESS, Kentucky – The United Way of the Ohio Valley serves as the facilitator, administrator and convener of the Emergency Food and Shelter Board in Daviess County.
$39,036 (Phase 37 Funds) has been awarded to Daviess County through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP). The EFSP is a federal program that was established in 1983.
Program funds are used to provide lodging in a mass shelter, rent / mortgage payments to help those who are homeless, at risk of being homeless and/or transitioning into a permanent home.
Boulware Mission, Daniel Pitino Shelter, OASIS, Saint Benedicts and Salvation Army are the organizations that received EFSP Phase 37 Funds.
These funds are a crucial part of providing services to the most vulnerable population in our community. Families will be able to cook dinner in their homes, women and men will be safe from abuse, those seeking to ‘get clean’ from drugs have an avenue to contribute to society and homeless individuals and families have a place to sleep.
It is about the people. The dollars represent real lives that are given a hand up.
